Chaga is a mushroom that is typically found on birch trees. It’s a fungi restricted to cold
habitats at latitudes 45°N – 50°N. It can typically be found in Russia, Siberia, Scandinavia and
Canada.
Many bioactive compounds have been identified in Chaga mushroom including: polysaccharides,
polyphenols, triterpenoids, ergosterol peroxides, inotodial, betulinic acid.
It has traditionally been used in Russia for centuries for different uses including treatment for cancer
suffering patients. 1
It is now approved by Health Canada as a medicinal ingredient with immunomodulating properties.
Immunomodulating properties can mean an array of different activities that are found to help the
immune system protect itself from various intruders and illnesses.
